“Helen Astrid distinguishes herself at Garsington”

Helen made her debut at English National Opera in the
role of Lila Fennimore and Gerda conducted by
Sir Charles Mackerras. On the contemporary circuit, roles
at ENO include Theodora The Judgement of Theodora,
The Girlfriend What is the Point and
she’s worked on Turnage’s The Silver Tassie.
Other performances include Batignano Festival Italy,
Chelsea Opera Group at the QEH and the role of Zweite
Dienerin in the British premiere of Strauss’s Die
Aegyptische Helene conducted by Elgar Howarth. For
the Linbury Studio Royal Opera House Covent Garden she
sang Society Lady Mary Seacole. She
wrote and performed her first opera It's 10pm,
they're Late for the Tete a Tete Festival 2009.
On the new music circuit, Helen has worked closely with
and premiered works by several eminent British composers
including Mark-Anthony Turnage, Judith Weir, Nigel Osborne,
Paul Patterson, Colin Mathews and Tansy Davies.
She began her musical training at the Royal Academy of
Music where she was awarded an Entrance Scholarship and
currently trains with Marie McLaughlin.
